We are seeking 7 members and 2 Student representatives (RIBA part 1 or part 2) to join the Edinburgh Architectural Association Council.

This is your chance to get actively involved with your local professional architectural chapter group. An opportunity to meet other architects, from practices large and small, and help to advance architecture and the built environment in your local area.

Who we are

The Edinburgh Architectural Association is one of six regional architectural groups which comprise the Royal Incorporation of Architects in Scotland. The EAA is an independent, not for profit, Scottish Charity with over 1300 members who are chartered architects, retired architects or students.

EAA Council consists of 16 Council members who are also Trustees of the Charity. As a group we meet on the second Tuesday every month at 6pm in Edinburgh. EAA Council comprises a range of architects and students from various backgrounds and experience, which creates a diverse group with a spectrum of skills and intere

What we do

Our core objectives are to support the architectural profession locally and promote architecture and the built environment.

Here are some of the activities that the EAA undertake:
  • Annual architectural and student awards
  • CPD events, lectures, exhibitions and building visits
  • Membership consultation workshops and input on future RIAS Strategy
  • Careers out-reach and liaison with ESALA
  • Design input at the Edinburgh Urban Design Panel
  • Representation at RIAS Council and RIAS Committees

What can you do?

We are looking for enthusiastic individuals who can give some voluntary time each month to get actively involved with your chapter group. Attending monthly EAA meetings is a core requirement along with volunteering to help with at least one of the activities listed above.

Chapter Area

The EAA Chapter area comprises the City of Edinburgh, the Counties of West Lothian, Mid Lothian, East Lothian, Berwick, Roxburgh, Selkirk, Peebles, Clackmannan and Fife (that part south and west of a line drawn on West Wemyss to Auchmuirbridge on the border of Kinross-shire). All RIAS members who live or study in these areas are members of the EAA and eligible to apply.

How to apply - members / fellows

To apply complete the attached Election Form 2019and also provide a short paragraph of text about yourself and why you would like to join EAA Council. Council tenures will be for either 2 or 3 years.

How to apply - student members

To apply please provide a short paragraph about yourself and why you would like to join EAA Council. Student tenures will be for 1 year.
