Consultation on Revised Planning Guidelines
Deadline: 6th August

 

Draft revisions have been made to two Edinburgh Planning Guidelines:

· Building Heights and Roofscapes
· Accessibility in the Built Environment

These draft revised guidelines are now available for consultation. The consultation period for the draft Guidelines will run until 6th August 2010, and any comments would be welcomed. Comments received will be taken account of in the finalisation of the Guidelines.

You can comment on the draft Guidelines using online surveys, or send your comments via email or letter to the addresses advised below.. Please do take a few minutes to comment - the surveys are only two questions long, and your response will ensure the finalised version is an informed piece of guidance.

Changes are largely confined to an update of the policy context and recognition of the work carried out to develop the protection of Key Views guideline.

Accessibility in the Built Environment

The revisions update the legislative and policy context, and:
· Simplify the explanations of the DDA and other statutory requirements;
· Clarify of the scope of the guidance in relation to the design of new developments;
· Make minor additions to the section on accessibility-related alterations to the historic environment.
· Remove unnecessary duplication with other supplementary planning guidance and building regulations;
Provide links to relevant Council and external guidance.
