If Bricks Could Talk…

Mote102, Ferry Road, EH6 4PG

Opening Night: Thursday 5th June 18:00-20:00

Exhibition: Friday 6th - Monday 9th June 10:00-17:00

Exhibition of recovered materials, along with material passport and short stories capturing the life and journey of each item.

If bricks could talk, what stories would they tell us?

What if the built environment wasn't just an assembly of lifeless resources, but had emotions, intelligence, memories?

This exhibition features materials recovered from deconstructions, along with narratives that depict both their identities and their life stories. It explores the deeply intertwined relationship between humans and building materials - one where we recognise their significance and acknowledge how our own life is profoundly shaped by their existence.

It challenges our tendency to take materials for granted and invites us to see them not as owned assets, but as entities that carry the memory of generations past and actively contribute to the interbecoming of future generations.

Join us at MOTE 102 Gallery from 5th till 9th June for our ArchiFringe exhibition ‘If Bricks Could Talk’. The exhibition will launch on 5th June 6pm-8pm with an opening event at 102 Ferry Rd, Edinburgh EH6 4PG. Come along for an evening of informal chat with participants and organisers, with refreshments and snacks. Free tickets available below.

The exhibition will continue from 6th till 9th June, open 10am-5pm. Note that no ticket is required to attend the exhibition throughout this time.
