 The annual EAA Design Awards are recognised at local and national level and are one of the main highlights of the annual EAA programme.

The Building of the Year winner, awards winners and commendations were announced in an online awards ceremony on 4th November 2020.

CHRISTINA GAIGER

Christina Gaiger graduated from the University of Sheffield with a Bachelor of Architecture degree in 2007 and completed her Master of Architecture at The University of Edinburgh in 2010.

Following graduation, Christina has worked on a wide variety of projects, including universities, education facilities, museum design and domestic architecture, for design- led practices Renzo Piano Building Workshop in Paris and TsAO & McKOWN Architects in New York.

Christina returned to Edinburgh and joined Helen Lucas Architects Ltd at the end of 2014, being particularly interested in the practice’s attention to detail and work in architectural conservation. Christina sits on EAA and RIAS Council.

MICHAEL GOOD

Michael Good gained his Diploma in Architecture after five years full-time study at Kingston College of Art. He spent his mid course year’s office practice in Gamla Stan, Stockholm.

After completing studies he has worked all his life in Edinburgh, initially with Michael Laird and Partners. For twenty years he was with Philip Cocker and Partners, latterly as an Associate, taking housing projects from design to completion mostly with the Link Housing Group. Later he worked with Hugh Martin Partnership on large commercial projects. Most recently he was Architect Investigator with The Royal Fine Art Commission advising the Scottish Office on improvements in design of Large and Small Developments. He has spent many years in India and the Middle East taking photos for Picture Libraries for publication.

He sits on the EAA and RIAS Councils.

FIONA MCLACHLAN

Fiona McLachlan is Professor of Architectural Practice at the University of Edinburgh and is an architect and educator. She teaches architectural design and professional practice, and is a past Head of the Edinburgh School of Architecture and Landscape Architecture (ESALA).

Fiona is the author of Architectural Colour in the Professional Palette, (2012), and a co-author of Colour Strategies in Architecture, (2015). Her architectural practice, E & F McLachlan Architects focused on residential projects which integrate wheelchair-user, frail elderly and mainstream houses. She sits on the board of APEAS.
