COP26 SHOPFRONTS | Get Involved!
#COP26SHOPFRONTS INITIATIVE LAUNCHES TODAY - Find out below how you can be part of it!
Many architects have street facing offices, and across our towns and cities many empty shop fronts have appeared over the last 18 months. These present an opportunity for a visual presence outlining the threats and opportunities arising from the climate emergency and the importance of COP26 in achieving meaningful change.
As part of the EAA’s wider response to COP26, #cop26shopfronts invites chapter architects to prepare a display, exhibit, image, poster to be displayed either in their office windows or that of a partner business. This display provides an opportunity to reflect on the themes arising from COP26 and present key issues for consideration by the general public.
Participants are free to explore and present any issues of their choice which highlight the important role which architecture and the construction industry must play in reducing our harmful impact on the environment.
Working with the RIAS, the EAA will create a digital map to mark all of the participating venues in each area, and provide a physical logo in each window to link the exhibiting shopfronts together across the chapter and beyond.
The #cop26shopfronts initiative will take place from mid-October to end-November 2021 to coincide with the COP26 conference in Glasgow. Early displays are welcomed in the build up to COP26. The legacy and low carbon/circular nature of the display should be considered and promoted proudly!
