2021 EAA Awards for Architecture
REGENERATION / CONSERVATION AWARD
WINNER
LOADER MONTEITH
HIGH SUNDERLAND
JUDGES’ COMMENTS
“Recovery, forensic, decontamination and modernist: vocabulary now required in a conservation architect’s changing role. High Sutherland illustrates the depth of research required in the development of proposals, and the application of skills in repairing listed buildings to the discreet and appropriate upgrade and retrofit of all building typologies. 1960s buildings, not always very well loved, will increasingly form a major part of conservation work, and we will require new skills and supply chains demonstrated by this project to deliver it.”
COMMENDATION

GLENKINCHIE DISTILLERY
JUDGES’ COMMENTS
“Glenkinchie Distillery demonstrates the industry’s awareness that our first response must be to retain buildings. This enhances and capitalises on values other than heritage: social importance to the community, tourism post-Covid, and others. The contractor’s goal of no waste to landfill is to be praised, and illustrates the success of whole construction team engagement.”
