“This project celebrates material. The judges loved the powerful message of the skill of an architect to showcase everything positive about taking control of the material selection at a time when material shortages are an everyday issue. The architects’ control meant the material was considered at every stage, from the early design strategy, through clever structural solutions to the detailed execution of finishes. The project also celebrated the collaborative process of supply chains, manufacturers, local trades and local economy.”
