“As judges we all felt at home when we walked through the door of Renton Hall. 

The plan shows restraint and clear consideration for the existing manor which has been brought back to its former grandeur whilst being equipped for the 21st century. Retrofitting existing buildings is becoming increasingly important and the sensitive enhancements made are commendable.  

The additions WT have made are generous but not excessive with the extension sitting apart and perpendicular to the main axis enhancing the relationship with the newly restored gardens while lightly reaching back to the manor making it feel intrinsically connected and in no way out of place.  

The attention to detail is exceptional with the thick walls, rich interiors and Douglas fir frame appearing seamless enveloping the new spaces in timber making them warm, inviting and cosy – everything a home should be.”
